2015

Founded by principal Michael Wiseman, MIPA, an accountant since 2005.

About Wiseman

A focused Ipswich firm, built for the long term.

We help growth-minded family businesses minimise tax, protect their assets and structure for long-term success, so the business supports the life they want to build.

We’re an Ipswich accounting and advisory firm built around established, family-owned businesses in construction, professional services and property across South East Queensland.

Accurate compliance, lodged on time, is the baseline we work from. The value is in what comes next: the structuring, the tax planning and the decisions the numbers point to. Every client has an experienced client manager who knows the business and stays the same year to year.

Our story

Ten years in business, one clear focus.

Wiseman Accountants was founded in 2015 by Michael Wiseman, an accountant since 2005. Michael saw that established family businesses were being treated the same way as one-off individual tax clients, and set out to build a firm around ongoing, proactive advice instead.

Since then, we’ve grown to a team of 13 and kept the same personal approach. Every client works directly with the people who know their business.

Today we work with 450+ business groups across South East Queensland, with real depth in construction, professional services and real estate.

Our purpose

What we stand for

The mission, vision and values that shape how we work with every client, every day.

Our mission

“To help growth-minded family businesses minimise tax, protect their assets and structure for long-term success, so the business supports the life they want to build.”

This is the purpose behind every piece of advice we give. We measure success not by the size of the engagement, but by the real difference the advice makes to the business owners we work with.

Tax minimisation

Plan ahead so you pay exactly what the law requires, no more.

Asset protection

Structure correctly so what you’ve built is protected before it’s ever threatened.

Long-term growth

Advisory relationships that evolve as the business does, not just a tax return each year.

Our vision

“To be the advisory firm South East Queensland business owners trust to guide their most important financial decisions, helping them build genuine financial freedom.”

We’re not trying to be the biggest firm in the region. We’re building a reputation for advice that’s genuinely independent, delivered proactively, and focused on what matters most to the families we work with.

Trusted locally

Reviews and a growing client base are the result of getting the fundamentals right, every time.

Relationships over transactions

We measure the relationship in decades, not years.

A team that grows with you

As the business grows, so does the depth of advice, from compliance through to full advisory.

Our values

“The values behind every client relationship: the things we won’t compromise on, no matter how the business grows.”

These aren’t aspirational statements. They’re the principles we apply every day, in how we structure advice, run relationships, and decide which clients we work with.

Honest and direct

We tell clients what they need to hear, manage expectations, and deliver on what we promise.

Proactive

We plan ahead and look for opportunities, rather than just reporting on what’s already happened.

Family

We’re a family-owned firm working with family businesses, and we treat our team and clients accordingly.

Long-term

We back our clients over the long run, not for a single transaction or tax season.

Innovation

We adopt better systems and technology early, so our clients get better outcomes.

Local

Genuinely Ipswich-based, growing alongside the South East Queensland business community we’ve served since 2015.

Our team

The people behind the advice

A dedicated team ready to support you, with an experienced client manager who knows your business by name and stays with you year to year.

Accounting
Amber’s interest in accounting began early, having grown up watching her mother build a career in the profession. That early exposure grew into a genuine passion for numbers and for helping people make sense of their finances. Today, Amber is known around the office as a true all-rounder. She is fluently bilingual, speaking both English and Mandarin, and brings a broad and adaptable skillset, together with an exceptionally sharp eye for detail, to everything she works on. What clients notice most about Amber is that she never rushes them. She takes the time to properly explain even the trickier matters, whether that’s a complicated capital gains calculation or the strategic planning behind a growing business, so that people leave understanding their situation rather than just having survived it. Amber began her accounting career in Shanghai, China, when she was completing her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Wuhan Institute of Technology and later moving to Australia to complete her Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) at the University of Queensland. She is also working towards her ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification, having already passed eleven exams. Amber joined Wiseman Accountants in 2021, where she has since become a trusted adviser to clients across many matters. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with family and, by her own admission, a bit of retail therapy.

Common questions

Questions, answered plainly

Still have a question?
How long has Wiseman Accountants been operating, and who founded it?

Wiseman Accountants was founded by principal director Michael Wiseman and has been running for 10+ years, growing from a one-person practice to a team of 13 serving established family businesses across South East Queensland.

What are the qualifications of the two directors?

Michael Wiseman is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants, and Kris Dieckmann is a CPA. Between them they cover compliance, tax planning, structuring and self-managed super fund administration for every client on the books.

Will we deal with the same person year to year, or get passed around?

You are given a dedicated client manager who stays with your file year to year, gets to know the business properly, and keeps the context behind past decisions instead of starting fresh with a new contact each tax season.

What happens if our usual client manager is away?

Your file does not sit with one person alone. A dedicated client manager leads the relationship, but a team of 13 across accounting, compliance and operations sits behind every client, so questions do not need to wait on one person’s availability.

Is Wiseman Accountants independent, or tied to any product provider?

Independent. We hold no AFSL and sell no financial products, so advice is conflict-free. Where a client needs licensed financial advice we refer to trusted advisers in our network, or work alongside the adviser they already use.

Do you only handle compliance, or do you get involved in bigger decisions?

Compliance lodged accurately and on time is the baseline we work from. The value clients see is in the tax planning and structuring and asset protection decisions that follow, and in a client manager who stays close enough to spot them.
